Atlanta NAP
Data Center
The Atlanta NAP Data Center is located in Atlanta GA
(USA) - with access to all the major fiber and IP
backbones and the highest quality of power and security
in the city. Your servers have a home here.
Why in USA ?
Internet access development in the US is ahead of
Australia in terms of cost and connectivity.
The cost savings are passed on to you by SmallPond
hosting plans pricing.
Does that mean my
website will be slow to load ?
The ping (time taken) reading comparison is 23
milliseconds for the fastest Australian Server and 230
milliseconds for the Atlanta Server. The 200 millisecond
difference is hard to spot on webpage downloads.
Minimum specs for
all of our Shared servers:
2 GHZ Processors or better
2 gig ram or better
Multiple Hard Disk Drives and Raid Array: for main data,
one for back up
Linux
Apache
WHM/Cpanel
CSF firewall running on all servers protecting against
outside attacks
Regular software updates
Nightly auto Back-ups
99.999% Reliability
Uninterruptible power supplies and generator backup
State of the art datacenter ID system and security
24/7 Server Monitoring
Staff members work around the clock to ensure that the
network is operating at optimum state.
Connectivity
All servers are connected via a dedicated 100mbps line.
Redundant Internet Connections
While most companies use simple BGP routing, we utilize
the Avaya route science route optimizer for the ultimate
low latency high availability connection to your server.
Coupled with 5 tier one providers and loads of peers,
you will be hard pressed to find a better network out
there!
Normal BGP routing simply looks at how many hops until
the target, the route science box actually traces back
to the originating websurfers up to 7000 times a minute
identifying any problematic area then sorting the routes
based on many different factors such as speed,
packetloss, and amount of hops. Then it intelligently
re-routes your connection to insure you stay on the
fastest possible route.

Environment control
Consistent temperature and humidity ranges in the
AtlantaNAP Data Center are maintained by redundant
cooling systems.
Security
In additional to the on-site security staff, access is
controlled by state-of-the-art identification systems,
including a biometrics hand scanner and card reader.
