It is advisable to use a strong password to prevent hackers/spammers or malicious programs from accessing your account.

Password can be leaked by :

a) By sharing of critical password to strangers
b) By saving the password in plain text format in your local computer or FTP client
c) Saving the password in browser "Save Password" option in windows IE. Some windows machines that get connected to the internet are attacked by Virus which can extract these saved passwords.

So please make sure that the passwords are set strong and kept safe.

Further Security Suggestions :

Delete unused FTP accounts. Just enable the root FTP account with strong password.

Login to cPanel and remove all unwanted files from it. Also consult a web developer and optimize your website.

If you have installed any third party php application softwares like phpBB forum, wordpress, joomla etc, you need to upgrade it to the latest version. It will make your website less vulnerable.

Do not store your account or email or ftp passwords on your local machine. Do not use same password for cPanel, ftp and email accounts. Take a copy of all password and store it as a hard copy. Scan your computer using any standard antivirus software and make sure that your system is not infected with any viruses or malwares.

If you want to reset the password, you should make sure that the password contains at least 10 characters including lower case letters, upper case letters, numbers, special characters etc.
